Our Story
At McGarvey Law, we champion healthy communities, safe places to work, and a clean environment. The firm represents individuals suffering from the effects of exposure to dangerous substances, especially those suffering from Libby asbestos diseases. We also advocate on behalf of individuals denied the right to work in a safe and healthy environment and represent private property owners working to clean up contaminated lands. The firm has a particular specialty in complex cases, including insurance, class actions, and land use law.
Our roots trace to 1975 when Jon Heberling joined Dale McGarvey’s practice; together, the two set out to defend Northwest Montana’s land and communities. In 1986, Roger Sullivan and Allan McGarvey joined as partners as the firm evolved to become one of Montana’s premier firms dedicated to protecting Montanans’ values and land. In 2020, John Lacey, Ethan Welder, Dustin Leftridge, and Jinnifer Mariman joined Roger and Allan as partners in McGarvey Law.
Our mission is to advocate on behalf of communities and individuals who are attempting to seek justice and to pass on clean and healthy communities to the next generation of Montanans.

The case of the century
The Libby Asbestos case is the largest personal injury case ever filed in Montana. McGarvey Law won settlements over $100,000,000, and is still fighting to this day to ensure the people of Libby regain some of losses they suffered.
